Two 18th-century Pennies with a $600 million USD value

In the realm of numismatics, the study and collection of coins, rarity often equate to value.

Minted in 1792, the Birch Cent is among the earliest pennies produced by the United States Mint.

Its historical significance lies in being one of the first coins struck under the authority of the newly established federal government.

Designed by engraver Robert Birch, the coin features a profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse and a laurel wreath on the reverse.

Also minted in 1793, the Chain Cent is notable for its design featuring 13 linking chains symbolizing the unity of the original thirteen colonies.

This design caused controversy at the time, leading to its quick replacement by the Wreath Cent later that year.

The Chain Cent remains a pivotal piece in numismatic history, marking a transitional period in American coinage.
